We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Professional to join our team at Fraser Health in Burnaby.

The Position
This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals and families who present with complex mental health and substance use disorders. As a Mental Health Professional, you will provide consultation, assessment, short-term case management, and brief intervention services to support clients in achieving their goals and improving their well-being.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide short-term brief intervention and support to clients affected by mental illness and/or substance use, including those in crisis, utilizing crisis intervention and short-term cognitive behavioral therapy based on treatment goals.
- Assess client needs and available services, contributing to shared care plans with client input, and facilitating clients' utilization of appropriate community services and rehabilitative programs.
- Screen referrals from the interdisciplinary team, gathering background information, determining service priorities, and providing rapid response to urgent referrals.
- Communicate and consult with psychiatrists and the interdisciplinary shared care team regarding client care and progress.
- Identify gaps and problems with service and recommend solutions to enhance a coordinated mental health care system within the community.
- Provide education and information sessions regarding mental health issues to the interdisciplinary shared care team, government/non-government agencies, and community groups as needed.
- Assist in program evaluation and quality improvement activities, standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain written reports and statistics and prepare written reports and clinical documentation according to established policies and procedures.
Your Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline from an accredited educational institution.
- Two (2) years of recent related experience in community and/or hospital settings providing programs for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
- Demonstrated comprehensive clinical counselling and therapy skills, including crisis counselling.
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to network with other services and agencies.
- Able to operate related equipment, including applicable software applications.
