About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Host to join our team at Auberge du Pommier. As a Host, you will be responsible for creating a positive guest experience from the moment they arrive at our restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage guest flow to maximize seating capacity and ensure a smooth dining experience.
  • Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, and managers to maintain proper guest flow throughout the restaurant.
  • Escort guests to their tables, engage them in conversation, and seat them accordingly.
  • Accurately take reservations and modify guest status in Open Table.
  • Develop a briefing sheet before each shift to inform co-workers of shows, concerts, special events, and notable guests.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the restaurant trade area, including location, surroundings, nearby attractions, and directions.
  • Ensure the front entrance, host stand, and surrounding areas are fully stocked and free from clutter and debris.
  • Know all table numbers and maintain awareness of which servers are in each section.
  • Fulfill special requests for birthdays, anniversaries, and notable guests, and ensure all co-workers are informed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the washrooms by completing regular checks throughout the shift.
  • Follow all food safety standards and systems.

Requirements

  • High attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a level of professional urgency and momentum.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in customer service, with restaurant experience considered an asset.
