Heavy Equipment Technician Job Description

Brandt is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Campbell River Construction & Forestry team.

This role involves the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry-based equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and diagnose equipment issues, ordering parts as needed, and performing repairs efficiently and effectively.
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to safety protocols and standards.
  • Utilize related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems to complete tasks.
  • Accurately document work orders, including machine information, actions taken, and time spent.
  • Continuously assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to accepted standards.
  • Use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis.
  • Locate and order parts from parts personnel using parts catalogues.
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.
Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment.
  • Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade.
  • Commitment to customer service and service excellence.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
