Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused Equipment Operator to join our team at Emterra Group. As a key member of our recycling facility, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various equipment, including grinders, dryers, and balers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all controls for the glass processing system, including grinders, natural gas dryers, magnets, conveyors, dust collection systems, glass bagging equipment, and screens.
  • Operate forklifts in and around the glass processing system, including removing full supersacs of crushed glass and/or skids full of 50-pound bags of glass from the sorting screens, replacing stands with empty supersacs, and loading full supersacs and skids of 50-pound bags of glass onto trucks.
  • Inspect and clean vibratory screens on a daily basis.
  • Check and clean screens, vacuum hoods, and magnetic separators.
  • Change screen decks when required.
  • Fill 50-pound bags of glass in various sizes and stack them on pallets.
  • Shrink wrap skids full of 50-pound bags.
  • Read and fully understand all operational and safety manuals of all glass processing equipment.
  • Perform daily circle checks of forklifts.
  • Perform minor maintenance of forklifts, including blowing out radiators on a daily basis.
  • Operate forklifts safely, according to the operating manual and established health and safety procedures.
  • Load trucks with skids and supersacs of glass and provide other forklift duties throughout the plant as required, including loading trucks with bales, moving, and stacking bales.
  • Clean the floor inside the fluidized bed dryer.
  • Keep accurate records of all finished product in supersacs or bags and mark each supersac or 50-pound bag with the date the supersac or bag was filled and the mesh size of the glass.
  • Check product daily to ensure it is clean and within size specifications.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the glass processing area, including sweeping floors on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the dust collectors are operational at all times during production and report any problems with the dust collection system immediately to supervision.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including safe lockout and test procedures, and wear safety equipment.
  • Operate front-end loaders safely, according to the operating manual and established health and safety procedures.
  • Load the hopper with glass and provide other loader duties throughout the plant as required, including feeding the baler and pushing up loads of material on the tipping floor.
  • Operate the snorkel lift following all safety protocols to unjam vacuum pipes and other tasks.
  • Operate all baler controls for the IPS and Nexgen balers and provide support as required operating this equipment.

Requirements

  • Must have held a valid Class G driver's license.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
  • Must successfully complete formal training courses on Forklift Truck and Front End Loader, paid for by the Company.
  • Must successfully complete training on aerial work platforms to operate the snorkel lift, paid for by the Company.
  • Must have experience working with tools and machinery and be able to make minor repairs to equipment, adjust belts, grease equipment, etc.
