About the Role

Abnormal Security's cloud products rely on scalable, secure, and reliable data access. Our Data Platform team provides storage systems and a platform for moving and processing data that feeds the company's powerful ML models to detect and prevent cyberattacks.

We're seeking a Staff Software Engineer to spearhead key initiatives owned by the Data Platform team. This role offers opportunities to mentor a small team of engineers, define and build the roadmap for the next-generation data platform, and execute on ambitious technical projects.

The ideal candidate is capable of tackling complex business problems, exploring solutions, and building consensus. They should have a track record of building data-intensive applications that contribute to the company's business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shape the Data Platform architecture and roadmap to empower and scale AI/ML applications.
  • Deep dive into product workflows and recommend trade-offs for transition.
  • Act as technical lead, owning the quarterly roadmap and executing on ambitious projects.
Requirements
  • ~5+ years of experience in building platforms, tools, and systems to serve engineering teams.
  • Experience in building data-intensive, distributed systems as a back-end engineer.
  • Proven track record of being a Change Agent, defining and driving engineering initiatives.
  • Experience with or interest in Python, Golang, Terraform, Postgresql, Kafka, Redis, OpenSearch, AWS/Azure, and Kubernetes.
