Accounts Payable Specialist

Aegion Corporation is seeking a skilled Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Montreal, QC.

Our businesses provide cost-effective solutions to remediate operational, health, regulatory, and environmental problems resulting from aging and defective pipelines and infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable invoices and expense reports in a timely manner, collaborating with all departments as needed.
  • Input invoice and payment details with accuracy, prioritizing invoices according to payment terms.
  • Review weekly cash requirement reports thoroughly, creating payment groups and reconciling to cash requirements lists.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, administrators, controllers, and other employees, maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and correct errors.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough files and documentation, adhering to company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in the accounts payable function, increasing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely payments to vendors.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks and projects related to accounts payable as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years of experience in accounts payable.
  • Bilingual (French and English) with proficient verbal and written communication skills, able to interact effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong PC skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • Experience with JD Edwards (JDE) is an asset.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in processing invoices and payments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to reconcile and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues in other departments.
  • Will to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
