Accounts Payable Specialist

Aegion Corporation is seeking a skilled Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Montreal, QC.

Aegion Corporation and its family of companies protect the world's infrastructure from degradation and corrosion with innovative technologies. Our businesses provide cost-effective solutions to remediate operational, health, regulatory, and environmental problems resulting from aging and defective pipelines and infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable invoices and expense reports in a timely manner, collaborating with all departments as needed.
  • Input invoice and payment details with accuracy, prioritizing invoices according to payment terms.
  • Review weekly cash requirement reports thoroughly, creating payment groups and reconciling to cash requirements lists.
  • Field communications from vendors, administrators, controllers, and other employees, maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and correct errors.
  • Maintain files and documentation accurately, adhering to company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in the accounts payable function to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely payments to vendors.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks and projects related to accounts payable as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years of experience in accounts payable.
  • Bilingual (French and English) with proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • Experience with JD Edwards (JDE) is an asset.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in processing invoices and payments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to reconcile and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues in other departments.
  • Will to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
