About Our Quality Control Inspector Role

We're seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join our Ottawa team at Black & McDonald. As a Quality Control Inspector, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor all aspects of work to guarantee line management meets quality requirements in accordance with applicable standards and codes.
  • Perform work activities in a safe manner and in compliance with Black and McDonald's Safety Program and our customers' standards.
  • Carry out receipt, in-process, and final inspections and tests, maintaining accurate records of inspection and test status.
  • Liaise with Regulatory Authorities to ensure compliance and adherence to regulations.
  • Participate in process monitoring activities to guarantee quality standards are met.
  • Verify the correctness of Work Sign-off activities related to inspection and test activities.
  • Prepare Inspection and Test Plans unless provided by the client.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Foremen for project QC activities, including interfaces with outside organizations (subcontractors).
  • Accurately and timely verify inspections and tests as outlined in Inspection and Test Plans or assigned by the QA Manager.
  • Document inspection results and tests.
  • Ensure proper use and safe handling of measurement and test equipment, recording usage where necessary.
  • Identify and control nonconforming items and verify the control of nonconforming items.

Education and Work Experience Requirements

  • Certified CSA W 178.2 II Welding Inspector
  • 3-5 years of experience in a construction environment as a tradesman or technician or 5 years of construction and/or fabrication QA/QC experience

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Computer literacy; MS Work, Outlook, and Excel
