We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tariff and Permit Specialist to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with customs regulations, conducting post-entry reviews, and providing expert guidance on HS classifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of General Interpretive Rules, Explanatory Notes, and D-Memos to classify goods.
  • Conduct post-entry reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with customs regulations and identify discrepancies or issues.
  • Provide expert guidance on HS classification for a variety of goods.
  • Manage and support the acquisition and maintenance of Global Affairs Permits, with a focus on the lumber industry.
  • Ensure all permit-related activities comply with Canadian regulations and Global Affairs requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for permit-related queries.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years in the customs brokerage or trade compliance industry.
  • Experience with Global Affairs Permits, especially in lumber, is a plus.
  • CCS designation or CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of General Interpretive Rules for Tariff Classification, Explanatory Notes, and communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
