Job Title: Associate Physician, General Internal Medicine

Job Summary:

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking an Associate Physician, General Internal Medicine to join our team. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of an attending physician and be accountable for providing quality care to patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and manage common issues arising in General Internal Medicine patients
  • Perform procedures within the scope of Associate Physician duties and responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
  • Work collaboratively with the most responsible physician, fellows, residents, nursing, and allied care providers
  • Document patient information in accordance with College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) standards

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools
  • Minimum of two (2) years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist
  • Eligible for registration with the CPSBC in the Associate Physician class
  • Canadian Citizenship, permanent resident, or legally able to live and work in British Columbia

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position

Assessment and Probationary Period:

During a 12-week probationary period, the Associate Physician will undergo assessment and evaluation of their competence to perform the duties in the intended specialty areas under a supervising physician.

Remuneration:

The Associate Physician will be paid in accordance with the provincial guidelines established by the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) at the pay level of Range 9 following a successful 12-week orientation and assessment period.
