Operations Supervisor Job Description

At Grand & Toy, we're seeking a highly skilled Operations Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our distribution center, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and monitor activities to establish labor requirements and allocate associates effectively.
  • Monitor performance and identify system issues, taking corrective action to resolve problems promptly.
  • Communicate and assist associates in achieving unit goals and targets, conducting pre-shift meetings and involving them in problem-solving initiatives.
  • Establish and measure operational targets and achievements for the unit, based on assessment of current needs (safety, quality, and productivity).
  • Plan, guide, and evaluate associates and situations to produce optimal results, allocating labor correctly and controlling labor costs.
  • Liaise with other branch departments, head office, and other branch locations, maintaining customer service interactions and vendor relationships.
  • Provide reporting of operation and payroll activities, including commentary, and participate in special projects.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary, two-year community college diploma in Distribution/Logistics management.
  • Three to five years of related experience in a large distribution center environment.
  • Two to three years of supervising experience within a unionized facility.
  • Proactive solution-oriented supervisor with excellent PC, communication, problem-solving, and people management skills.
