The Development Officer, Mid-Level Giving, plays a vital role in securing philanthropic support from our mid-level donor community. This involves engaging them in the daily life and work at OSMH, nurturing their donor experience, and highlighting the incredible work of our medical colleagues.
Key Responsibilities- Map the donor journey for constituents giving in the $1,000 to $9,999 range, creatively engaging, inspiring, and growing their connection to and support for OSMH.
- Work closely with colleagues across the Foundation to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective donors with the capacity to make a mid-level gift.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, accountability, empathy, and creativity when developing and nurturing relationships.
- Work in partnership with the Stewardship & Planned Giving Coordinator to provide a customized donor experience and create a positive donor journey for mid-level donors.
- Actively engage with a portfolio of prospective and current supporters through hospital tours, in-person meetings, phone visits, written communications, and Foundation events.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct solicitation meetings, provide briefing support for senior volunteers, hospital partners, the Director of Campaigns & Major Gifts.
- Support and collaborate with Events colleagues to ensure that donor interactions are strategically-focused, donor-centric, and led by the Relationship Manager.
- Implement agreed-upon metrics, using Raisers' Edge to track all donor and prospect activity.
- Participate in regular performance evaluations with the Director of Campaigns & Major Gifts.
- Consistently and convincingly demonstrate to Foundation colleagues, volunteers, and the public-at-large, the role and importance of philanthropy and the Foundation's mandate.
- Embed diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging values into all activities.
- University or College degree in an appropriate discipline, or professional experience equivalent, combined with 5 years of fundraising or transferable experience.
- CFRE certification an asset, or willingness to obtain a fundraising certification.
- Direct experience and demonstrated success in managing relationships with key stakeholders such as donors, volunteers, hospital staff, senior leadership, and external partners.
- Ability to work to deadlines and be flexible with changing priorities.
- Experience in writing proposals and other persuasive documents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Experience working productively and positively with senior level staff and volunteers.
- Superior listening skills and the ability to interpret the concerns and interests of potential stakeholders and translate them into attractive opportunities for investment in Soldiers' priorities.
- Must have demonstrated work experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Raiser's Edge fundraising software (or equivalent).
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, and has a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction, while working within the framework of an integrated development program and team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated commitment and success in working to create a fair and inclusive environment, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
- Knowledge of Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, and/or healthcare fundraising.
