Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is between $110,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on experience. Job Description: Cloud Platform Engineer

The Cloud Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud deployments using Kubernetes and Docker containers. This role involves production support, administration, testing, and documenting various aspects of the cloud technology, tools, and continuous delivery. You'll ensure that reported incidents are triaged and resolved in a timely manner with minimal business impact.

Core Responsibilities
  • Create and manage cloud deployments using Kubernetes and Docker containers.
  • Provide expertise for operational management of cloud platform for monitoring, management, disaster recovery, security compliance/auditing, networking, storage, service brokers, and build packs.
  • Develop and deliver configuration and deployment automation through Kubernetes/Docker to improve the functionality, availability, and manageability of the platform and associated services.
  • Maintain system documentation, set up administrator and service accounts, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Use scripting tools to automate processes and develop performance indicators and monitoring methods.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A college diploma in computer science or equivalent, with higher accreditation (e.g., Bachelor of Computer Science) being an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience working in an IT capacity, with 5+ years of technical experience within an Enterprise-sized business.
  • 2 years of solid hands-on experience with cloud deployments to Azure, AWS, or GCP, and 2+ years of Kubernetes and Docker experience at an Enterprise scale.
  • 1-2 years of DevOps experience, and 2+ years of hands-on experience in setting up logging and monitoring using tools like ElasticSearch, Kibana, Filebeat, Logstash, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Knowledge of containers, orchestration tools, container management, Service Mesh (Istio or Linkerd), Software Development Life Cycle, CI/CD pipeline architecture, and IaC practice.
  • Good scripting abilities (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Go, etc.) and good problem-solving skills.
