The Associate Director, Regulatory Compliance is a key member of the Royal Bank of Canada's Compliance team, supporting the development and implementation of the Compliance program for RBC Global Asset Management in Canada.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and interpret complex regulatory rules and developments to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Design and implement new or amended compliance policies and procedures to ensure effective risk management.
- Provide expert advice and training to internal departments on regulatory matters.
- Support the team's execution of second-line of defense Regulatory Compliance Management activities, including monitoring, testing, reporting, and issue management.
- Execute day-to-day compliance operational activities and tasks, including reporting and record-keeping.
- Work effectively within a team environment, cross-train, and provide backup to other team members as assigned.
- 2-4 years of relevant employment experience in regulatory compliance, preferably in the financial institution or securities industry.
- University or post-graduate degree in Business, Finance, or Law is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and provide effective solutions.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, as well as effective organization skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines.
- Ethical behavior and the ability to maintain confidentiality are required.
- Professional communication skills, including the ability to write effective policies, procedures, reports, and other documentation.
- Prior experience in compliance monitoring and testing activities is an asset.
- Relevant securities industry courses or enrollment in the Chartered Financial Analyst program (or a CFA charter holder).
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements as they pertain to portfolio managers or investment fund managers.
