Job Title: Safety and Compliance Lead

Babcock International is seeking a highly experienced Safety and Compliance Lead to join our team in Vancouver BC or Winnipeg MB. As a key member of our Aviation sector, you will be responsible for leading a team of Aviation Safety and Quality professionals to meet the safety goals and outputs defined by Babcock Canada (BCI) Aviation Leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion the aviation Safety Management System (SMS) and a positive and engaged safety culture.
  • Lead the implementation of HSEQ policies to the aviation Business Units.
  • Lead the operation of the Safety Management System including continual improvement.
  • Provide resourcing guidance to the aviation leadership for Safety and Quality programs.
  • Lead the Quality and Safety audit program ensuring audits are completed and recorded.
  • Promote and lead the implementation of company safety systems and programs.
  • Lead and direct the appropriate investigation of safety-related matters.
  • Lead the actioning and distribution of accident, incident, and occurrence reports.
  • Liaise with and advise all personnel on matters concerning Quality and Safety.
  • Conduct special projects for enhancing organisational and operational safety.
  • Advise the Aviation Leadership Team on strategic safety objectives.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure appropriate action is taken.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of meaningful safety performance indicators.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide HSEQ related SME advice for the development of commercial tenders.
  • Lead the review, development, and coordination of Emergency Response Planning.
  • Champion the review process for both Safety and Quality programs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in aviation with a minimum of 3 years in a safety critical leadership role.
  • Experience conducting operational safety audits and safety investigations.
  • Expert knowledge of TCCA and H&S legislation, and Operational Risk Management.
  • Proficient in the conduct of trend analysis and development of improvement plans.
  • An expert understanding of Safety Management Systems.
  • Understanding of human factors in aviation and Fatigue Risk Management.
  • Previous experience in incident investigation is an asset.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Hold or have held a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license is an asset.
  • Eligibility for an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and ITAR Clearance.
