About the Position:

This is a permanent role in our Water Resources team, working alongside passionate scientists, engineers, and technicians who drive the protection and stewardship of Nova Scotia's water resources.

As the Water Resource Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating technical reports, overseeing the provincial hydrometric network, contributing to the department's approach to water resource allocation and management, leading the development of regulatory amendments, and providing subject matter expertise in public meetings and community outreach programs.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license in Nova Scotia or eligibility to be licensed
  • A Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or Environmental Engineering
  • At least 6 years of applied engineering experience in areas such as sound understanding of water and environmental principles, analyzing and interpreting data from hydraulic and hydrologic models, developing or reviewing surface water management plans, and leading programs and projects

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation relevant to water resource engineering
  • Strong computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation packages
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills to synthesize complex technical information for various audiences
  • ArcGIS Pro experience
