Job Title: Building Maintenance Worker

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Building Maintenance Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Ltd. o/a HI Dartmouth. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our building systems and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including adjustments and repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Contact contractors for repairs and maintenance of the establishment.
  • Perform minor repairs on appliances and equipment.
  • Conduct safety and security checks to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Perform other routine maintenance jobs, such as painting and drywall repair.
  • Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • Work with minimal supervision to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Initiative, judgement, and reliability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
  • Repetitive tasks.
  • Handling heavy loads.
  • Physically demanding work environment.
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling.
Weight Handling:
  • Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Personal Suitability:
  • Organized and reliable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
