Job Summary

Lion Guard is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for identifying current and prospective staffing requirements, preparing and posting notices and advertisements, and advising job applicants on employment requirements and terms and conditions of employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staffing and Recruitment: Identify current and prospective staffing requirements, prepare and post notices and advertisements, and advise job applicants on employment requirements and terms and conditions of employment.
  • Selection and Examination Boards: Co-ordinate and participate in selection and examination boards to evaluate candidates.
  • Staffing Policies and Procedures: Advise managers and employees on staffing policies and procedures.
  • Staff Consultation and Grievance Procedures: Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures.
  • Eligibility and Training: Determine eligibility to entitlements and arrange staff training.
  • Personnel Clerks: Supervise personnel clerks performing filing, typing and record-keeping duties.
  • Recruitment and Hiring: Recruit and hire staff.
Requirements
  • Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience: Experience an asset.
  • Computer and Technology Knowledge: Human resources software, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, attention to detail.

  • Persons with Disabilities: Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for persons with disabilities, applies accessible and inclusive recruitment policies that accommodate persons with disabilities.
  • Newcomers and Refugees: Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster, supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition, offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees, provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Youth: Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth, provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
  • Veterans: Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans, offers workshops, counselling services or other resources to help Veterans navigate their transition into the civilian workforce, supports Veterans in translating their military skills and experience into the language of the civilian job market, offers flexible onboarding options to allow Veterans to gradually adapt to the civilian workplace.
  • Indigenous People: Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • Mature Workers: Applies hiring policies that discourage age discrimination, provides staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers, offers phased retirement options that allow mature workers to gradually reduce their workload, offers phased re-entry options for mature workers who are returning to work after retiring.
  • Visible Minorities: Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities, provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities.
