About the Role:

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled Petitions and Appeals Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Faculty Registrar's office, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a fair and transparent process for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and issue decisions on routine petitions submitted by students
  • Advising on the appropriateness, precedents and process for petitions and appeals
  • Keeping well-informed on University programs, policies and procedures
  • Assessing petitions and/or appeals and determining which claim(s) can be resolved immediately and which requires committee review
  • Providing detailed information to committee members on petition and/or appeal rules, guidelines and procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of recent and related experience in an academic administration environment with specific experience administering academic petitions and appeals
  • Experience working collaboratively with instructors/faculty, and senior/peer administrators to achieve excellence in service, especially student service and academic support
  • Experience reviewing and assessing academic petitions and appeals
  • Experience interpreting and applying academic policies, regulations, and procedures with knowledge of petition and appeal guidelines, and best practices
