Healthcare Assistant

Job Summary:
The Healthcare Assistant provides direct client care and environmental support within established standards of care, policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:- Assist clients with activities of daily living, promoting self-respect, dignity, and independence.
- Follow individualized client care plans, providing feedback to improve care and communicating changes to the team leader.
- Document care according to policy, including observations and care provided in the client's health record.
- Provide or assist clients with personal hygiene, elimination, mobility, and observation and measurements as per care plan.
- Maintain a safe environment by appropriately distributing and storing equipment.
- Provide or assist with the application and care of compression stockings, tensors, braces, and splints as directed.
- Perform at least hourly observation rounds, or more frequently as indicated by client's care plan.
- Position and/or assist clients with eating in a manner that promotes dignity and interaction.
- Provide or assist with necessary safety measures, including side rails, seat belts, and wheelchair pedals.
- Report any changes in client's condition to the team leader.
- Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated communication skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures.
- Ability to display independent judgment.
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis.
The Healthcare Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment, providing care to clients with varying needs and abilities. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
