Job Description

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Digital Marketing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Communications and Marketing department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective digital marketing strategies to promote the Faculty of Arts and enhance the university experience for current and prospective students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Social Media Management
    • Manage all aspects of our social media channels, including planning, producing, and scheduling timely and relevant content.
    • Grow and diversify our follower bases, integrate multi-media, and monitor channels for issues and sensitive topics.
    • Monitor and report on performance, and identify new platforms and methods of engagement.
  • Digital Marketing and Promotion
    • Initiate and implement results-driven digital marketing strategies to enhance the profile of the Faculty of Arts and build engagement with internal and external audiences.
    • Manage promotion requests from various Arts departments and university units, ensuring timely response and assessment to recommend the most effective marketing channels.
    • Develop timelines, propose, and track budgets to implement marketing projects, promotions, and campaigns.
  • Analytics and Reporting
    • Act as lead on analytics and reporting for our digital channels, using a data-driven approach to measure, test, problem solve, and optimize performance.
    • Oversee web analytics and SEO for arts.ubc.ca, and measure engagement on Arts websites from targeted digital promotions.
    • Prepare reports and provide regular updates to stakeholders on outcomes and patterns.
  • Content Development and Coordination
    • Initiate, research, write, edit, and distribute original content for social media channels, email newsletter campaigns, websites, digital signage, and other channels.
    • Sources and distributes user-generated content, and works with internal and external service providers to coordinate production of photography and video content.
    • Works with designers to coordinate creation of visual designs for use in digital marketing initiatives.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Keep up to date with new trends and technologies in the digital space, and identify areas of growth.
    • Support Associate Director, Communications Managers, and Strategists in daily tasks, and liaise with faculty stakeholders, other campus units, and student collaborators as required.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience
    • Minimum four years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills
    • Commitment to anti-racism and inclusive excellence, and ability to apply an intersectional anti-racist lens to communications projects.
    • Experience creating and delivering messages through various digital platforms, and ability to adapt writing styles for various purposes and audiences.
    • Demonstrated experience working with social media tools, analytics, and web content management systems.
    • Knowledge of graphic and web design principles, and ability to effectively use email, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
    • Effective project management skills, and ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
