The Cross Fraser Partnership for the Fraser River Tunnel Project is another significant initiative that will enhance transportation throughout the Greater Vancouver Region.

About the Job

The Environmental Manager plays a critical role in ensuring our project operates sustainably. Key responsibilities include creating and implementing environmental programs and policies, overseeing environmental performance, and ensuring compliance with provincial or territorial environmental policies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage all environmental aspects associated with the Project, including monitoring and follow-up in accordance with Environmental Reference Documents and applicable laws.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Governmental Authorities and Stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and optimize the Environmental Management System.
  • Ensure environmental issues are addressed and requirements are met in accordance with Environmental Reference Documents and the Project Agreement.
  • Analyze data and create reports on environmental metrics.
  • Provide training to employees on environmental policies.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify potential hazards and violations.
  • Research new technologies relevant to environmental issues, such as alternative energy sources or pollution prevention methods.
  • Supervise staff in the environmental department.
  • Develop plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change impacts.
  • Manage environmental compliance, including development and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Review and approve building construction or renovation plans to ensure environmental law compliance.
  • Manage recycling efforts, including collecting recyclables and designing effective recycling programs.

Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience on similar-sized projects with expertise in project management and the environmental sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental management, policy, or engineering, with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 management system and certification preferred.

Salary Range: $130,000-$170,000 CAD, exclusive of bonus and in addition to employee benefits.
