Design Works Engineering is a multi-discipline engineering firm with expertise in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, energy modeling, and fire protection design. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at our Edmonton location, you will be an integral part of our team.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to all project phases and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, defined scope, timelines, and budget. You will be responsible for designing and specifying all Mechanical Building Services systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and controls.

  • Prepare engineering drawings and specifications
  • Review clients' specifications
  • Write technical reports and analysis to support design submissions
  • Review shop drawings for compliance and participate in the development of engineering standards
  • Obtain proposals from and follow up with suppliers and contractors
  • Partner with cross-functional project team members
  • Visit and survey project sites for project-related activities
  • Load calculations, including heat load calculations using HAP's
About You

You will bring a degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum of 10 years' experience designing commercial, low/high-rise buildings, and multi-family residential buildings. Your P.Eng. designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) must be in good standing.

  • Able to provide effective inter-discipline coordination on projects
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards
  • Effective leadership and business development skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit
  • Fluent in English
