Job Title: Senior Environmental Professional

Description:

Barrick is seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Professional to join our team at Carlin. As a key member of our Environmental group, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with air quality permits and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Title V air permitting regulations, Mercury Operating Permit, Federal MACT, and GHG reporting regulations.
  • Oversee maintenance of existing air compliance systems and develop new systems as needed.
  • Communicate with regulatory agency personnel, site managers, corporate resources, legal counsel, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead inspections of mine operations to ensure permit compliance and accompany regulatory inspectors on site visits.
  • Manage and develop Environmental Engineers, Coordinators, and Technicians, overseeing data collection and reporting to governmental agencies and Corporate Sustainability.
  • Manage business partners to complete permit applications and work with agency personnel to obtain approval of permit modifications.
  • Coordinate stack testing programs, from schedule coordination to report submission to regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare semi-annual and annual compliance reports.
  • Provide customer service to Operations personnel, guiding them in air permitting decisions to achieve their objectives.
  • Assist with training of NGM employees, contractors, and others.
  • Respond to environmental incidents, as needed.
  • This role requires regular walking on uneven terrain and lifting 40 pounds or more.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Five to ten years of direct experience in environmental compliance, including regulatory agency interactions.
  • Three or more years in a mining environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Title V air permitting regulations.
  • Experience with NESHAPs for Gold Mine Ore Processing and Production Area Source Category (7E) and the Nevada Mercury Control Program.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • In-depth experience with Excel.
  • Experience with database programs.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential responsibilities.
  • Experience in other environmental media (water, waste management, lands, etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of permitting processes relative to NDEP.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001:2015.
