Officer for Offender Reintegration

We are seeking a skilled Parole Officer to join our team at Employment and Social Development Canada. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in guiding offenders through the reintegration process, ensuring their successful transition from incarceration to community supervision.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of human behavior and be able to assess, analyze, and recommend potential transfer and release suitability of offenders. They will also be responsible for observing and interpreting offender behavior while maintaining public safety.

About the Role
As a Parole Officer, your primary responsibility will be to work with offenders, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their reintegration goals. You will conduct regular meetings with offenders, assess their progress, and provide recommendations for future steps.
You will also be required to maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to offender reintegration.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field that focuses on understanding and assessing human behavior or acceptable correctional experience. You will also require experience in formally assessing human behavior, interviewing, motivating, counselling, making referrals or recommendations, and identifying needs for intervention.
In addition, you must possess excellent communication skills, be able to build rapport with diverse groups, and demonstrate integrity and respect for the values of Employment and Social Development Canada.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary range of $78,017 to $103,279, plus an annual Correctional Service Specific Duty Allowance of $2,140 and an annual allowance of $3,000. Our benefits package includes access to a pension plan, health insurance, and paid vacation time.
