Job Title: Lead Mainframe DBA

At Sun Life, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mainframe DBA to join our team. As a key member of our DBA team, you will play a critical role in the modernization of our mainframe infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the DBA team in the implementation of mainframe DevOps tools and strategies to improve database administration and reduce costs.
  • Develop and implement solutions to improve database performance and availability using tools such as Splunk and Grafana.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure database integrity and recoverability, and provide support for database-related issues.
  • Design and implement database capacity planning and security strategies to ensure compliance with service level agreements.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest mainframe technologies and trends, and provide recommendations for their adoption.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of mainframe databases (IMS/DB2) and application space.
  • Experience with mainframe tools such as JCL, RACF or ACF2, Broadcom and IBM database admin tools, REXX, Optim, IDAA, ADDI, etc.
  • Knowledge of mainframe modernization concepts and directions.
  • Experience with Ansible and Jenkins for DevOps and infrastructure automation.
  • Working knowledge of Zowe components, including Zowe CLI, and familiarity with ZOAU (Z/OS Open Automation Utilities) and integration with other mainframe products.
  • Experience with performance management dashboarding solutions, including Grafana, Broadcom APM for monitoring mainframe performance metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with Analytics platforms such as Splunk and IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator.
