Job Title: Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team at CB Canada. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all database instances across development, staging, and production environments
  • Restore service to databases as outages occur, including after hours and on weekends
  • Provide guidance on database design, tuning options, and other possible issues
  • Configure database monitoring utilities to avoid false alarms
  • Find the most effective solution for increasing performance, including purchasing hardware and making changes to the server configuration or index/query
  • Verify that SLA objectives for database server topology, configuration, and maintenance are met in design and execution
  • Establish the baseline for system performance and detect deviation, suggesting and executing improvements to slow running queries
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of database experience
  • Linux System Administration experience
  • Command of PostgreSQL
  • Apollo Tomcat experience preferred
  • Deep understanding of virtualization
  • Skilled at making improvements to query performance
  • Experience developing and maintaining documentation
  • Prior experience in production and on-call environments
  • Storage and server hardware experience a plus
  • Good understanding of relational database management systems
