Welcome to the Lakehead University Student Union. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Governance and Advocacy Officer. This is a full-time position that will be based remotely with occasional travel to Orillia/Thunder Bay.

The successful candidate will provide administrative and logistical support to LUSU's governing bodies, including the Executive Committee (EC), Board of Directors (BOD), and committees/working groups, as well as the Executive Director (ED). They will also assist in preparing and distributing governance documents, such as meeting agendas, reports, and minutes.

Governance and Internal Support:
  • Support student appointees to university governance bodies: The Governance and Advocacy Officer will provide training, resources, and coordination to support student leaders in their roles on university governing bodies.
  • Prepare and distribute governance documents: The officer will prepare and distribute governance documents, including meeting agendas, reports, and minutes.

The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience in governance, advocacy, policy, or internal coordination. A bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant field is preferred. Equivalent experience and education will also be considered.
