About the Opportunity
The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Consultant to join the Financial Operations Unit within the Income Assistance Services Division. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting the financial components of the division's program plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in the development, analysis, and evaluation of the divisional budget, financial variance reports, and forecasts.
- Provide training, direction, interpretation, and guidance to division management and staff on budget planning and development, forecasting, expenditure, and financial management procedures.
- Analyze and strategize with senior divisional management on changes to future programming needs, implementation of new resources, realignment, and/or deletions in existing services.
- Support and participate in issues related to existing or new programs/policies to support evidence-based decision making, budget development, and program planning.
- Conduct reviews and audits of division's service delivery to external clients and internal processes and systems and make recommendations.
- Provide leadership and direction to financial analysts in the Financial Operations Unit.
Requirements
- Experience with accounting standards and financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Ability to perform fast, thorough, and accurate analysis and assimilate and compile large amounts of data/information in a short timeframe.
- Ability to accurately compile, compare, calculate, identify, and summarize data by utilizing word processing, databases, spreadsheets, communications, and other software packages with speed and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ability to think analytically and creatively to support the Division's strategic and tactical program plans.
