Financial Analyst Job Description

Brandt is seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to join our team in Regina.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze divisional and departmental financial statements to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  • Provide operational-level analysis on monthly financials and trends, highlighting areas for improvement.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare month-end journal entries with supporting documentation.
  • Analyze large data sets to draw meaningful conclusions and provide recommendations.
  • Analyze profit and loss variances to prior performance and budgets.
  • Work with different divisions for intercompany processing and reconciliation.
  • Assist in preparing working papers for quarterly and annual reserves and allowances.
  • Support the preparation of documentation for the annual external audit.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Offer insight into various accounting requirements, including CRA regulations.
  • Provide advice and guidance on accounting matters, including financial systems, record-keeping, analysis, and reporting.
  • Identify internal process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Capacity to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a drive for continuous improvement.

Education and Experience:

  • University degree in Business or Accounting, with preference given to those with an advanced degree or professional accounting designation (such as CPA).
  • 2-3 years of experience working as a Financial Analyst or Senior Accountant.
  • Solid understanding of financial metrics, corporate finance, and accounting.
