Job Title: Senior Automation Engineer

Powell Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our electrical manufacturing and contracting company, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative automation solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement automation solutions using PLC and HMI software
  • Configure and test industrial control systems using Modbus, IEC61850, and DNP3 protocols
  • Design and develop SCADA systems using WonderWare InTouch, Allen Bradley Factory Talk, and Siemens WinCC
  • Develop relay configuration files using SEL, GE, Siemens, and Beckwith microprocessor relays
  • Participate in and develop documentation for factory and on-site acceptance testing (FAT and SAT respectively)
  • Ensure compliance with company Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automation and control systems
  • Expertise in PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA system design
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and relay configuration
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions:
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including industrial and office settings
