Key Responsibilities- Design and implement technical environments to meet functionality requirements and ensure cost effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain standards, procedures, and documentation to manage the technical environment.
- Plan and coordinate upgrades to hardware, operating systems, and layered software products.
- Evaluate and recommend new software and hardware using SaskTel project management disciplines.
- Manage the full life cycle of various products using a disciplined approach.
- Perform complex software or hardware installations.
- Problem solve software/hardware failures while under pressure from impacted clients or customers.
- Perform Control Office functions and responsibilities for the creation, monitoring, and resolution of hardware and software troubles.
- Database Administration - Plan, design, automate, implement, and support the physical structures for databases.
- Network - Plan, design, automate, implement, and/or provide advanced support and training for SaskTel internal and external customers' route, switch, security, wireless, hardware, and software systems.
- Desktop - Plan, design, automate, implement, and/or provide advanced support for the hardware, operating systems, and products that make up the SaskTel and/or customer standard desktop.
- Server - Plan, design, automate, implement, and/or provide advanced support for the hardware, operating systems, and products that make up the SaskTel and/or customer standard server environment.
- Security - Plan, design, automate, implement, and/or provide advanced security tools, standards, and support for hardware, network, operating systems, applications, products, and services that make up the SaskTel and/or customer professional computing environment.
- Development Tools - Plan, design, implement, and/or provide advanced support for the products used in the development of applications.
- Application - Plan, design, implement, and/or support the physical and logical structures for SaskTel and/or customer applications.
- Systems Integration - Plan, design, implement, and provide advanced support for the hardware, network, operating systems, applications, products, and services that make up the SaskTel and/or customer professional computing environment.
- Data Centres - Consult with Tier III resources and vendors for timely resolution of hardware and software problems as required. Perform continuous monitoring and testing on related systems and elements to ensure security, reliability, and integrity of computer environments. Identify security vulnerabilities, analyze errors in system configurations, and apply recommended resolutions. Conduct selected tests of information security measures. Ensure client awareness of SaskTel's policies and procedures related to the data centre environment.
- Unified Communications - Plan, design, automate, implement, and/or provide advanced support and training for internal and external customers' collaboration hardware and software systems.
- Must satisfy one of the following educational requirements in combination with the specified experience levels which are normally gained through current and continuous experience in developing and/or supporting application software in a professional development environment or providing technical services on a full-time basis in a professional IT environment.
- University degree in Computer Science or Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Information Engineering or Electrical Engineering specializing in electronics or communications with 2 years experience.
- Technical Institute diploma in Data Processing or Computer Technology or Electronic Engineering Technology with 3 years experience.
- University degree in one of the following disciplines with a minor in Computer Science: Administration, Commerce, Science/Engineering or Mathematics, or SaskTel sponsored retraining program with 3 years experience.
- Certified Professional Designation (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Information Systems Professional (ISP) or Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE), etc. with 4 years experience.
- 5 years experience in the identified technology area indicated on the posted position.
- Thorough working knowledge and demonstrated ability in the posted technical environment as typically gained through experience in qualification # 1. Posted Discipline: Systems Integration.
- Must successfully complete prescribed training courses to obtain and maintain vendor certification to meet SaskTel's and vendors' requirements.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in analysis/design and automation.
- Demonstrated analytical ability and experience in resolving complex application/system problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated initiative.
- Demonstrated technological leadership.
- Valid driver's license (not applicable to all positions).
This is an on-site position located at SaskTel. The successful candidate must be located within the province of Saskatchewan. Out of province/country candidates must be willing to relocate. Flexible work opportunities, in province, may be available.
