About the Role

The Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Chief & Director, Paramedic Services. This is a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the department and drive excellence in pre-hospital emergency response, community safety, and community paramedicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the quality of care and services provided by the department.
  • Provide progressive leadership and operational direction to a multi-disciplinary staff of over 90% union and 10% non-union members.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships and achieve results that enhance the quality of life for residents, visitors, and communities.
  • Make critical decisions in emergency planning, coordination, and command, communications, operations, and logistics.
  • Manage external contract resources, multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets.
Requirements
  • University degree in Health Sciences or a related health discipline.
  • Practical experience as a paramedic and 8 years in a senior leadership role delivering paramedic services.
  • Sound decision-making skills and ability to make critical decisions in emergency situations.
  • Experience working with community partners to address barriers to care and promote health equity.
  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships across the industry.
