Job Title: Energy Systems Operations Specialist

FortisBC is seeking a highly skilled Energy Systems Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Energy Systems Operations group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our energy systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Energy Systems Operation Leads/Managers in coordinating and executing special projects, such as replacing or repairing on-site assets.
  • Perform entry-level tasks, including regular visual inspections and reporting for on-site FAES assets.
  • Organize access to sites, monitor on-site asset housekeeping requirements, and facilitate preventative maintenance work performed by 3rd party contractors.
  • Validate work performed by contractors to maintain quality and ensure compliance with scope of work.
  • On-site maintenance and storage of documents, spare parts, and other relevant materials for on-site FAES assets.
  • Work collaboratively with other employees with minimal supervision.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, contractors, internal stakeholders, and other departments.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable about various energy systems, including conventional and alternative systems, heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC & R, pumps, fans, motors, boilers).
  • Participate in industry working groups and training as required.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related field, such as Facilities Management, Operations Management, Energy Management, or HVAC.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Certificate in operations management or candidate will be considered as an asset.
  • Knowledge of direct digital control (DDC) would be considered an asset.
  • A valid drivers license (Class 5) and a clean driving record.
  • Formal operational and safety training, including First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, TDG / WHMIS, and Defensive Driving.
  • Knowledge of safety management, processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of various energy systems, conventional and alternative systems, including heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC & R, pumps, fans, motors, boilers) would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of computer and MS Office systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demanding work schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
