Strategic Government and Public Affairs Leader

At Telesat, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our government and public affairs strategies. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping policy and securing revenue backlog through comprehensive public affairs and government relations strategies.



Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to influence government decisions and advance Telesat's objectives
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, and industry associations
  • Foster collaboration with Canada's defence community to secure partnerships with the Department of National Defence, NORAD, and NATO
  • Create impactful presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Conduct research and analysis on government policies, programs, and regulations, providing strategic guidance to senior management


Requirements:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline, such as commerce, political science, economics, or engineering
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in government relations, public affairs, or a related field


Preferred Skills:

  • Highly skilled in creating impactful presentations and communicating complex information to diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to establish and cultivate strong relationships with government officials and industry stakeholders
  • Strong business acumen and proficiency in relationship building, influencing, and negotiation
