Emergency Medical Services Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paramedic to join our team at Alberta Health Services EMS. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
About the Role:
As a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), you will be responsible for assessing emergency scenes and patients, providing medical care and treatment as needed, and transporting ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities. You may also be required to operate ambulances or other modes of transportation.
Responsibilities:
- Assess emergency scenes and patients, providing medical care and treatment as needed
- Transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities
- Operate ambulances or other modes of transportation
- Treat patients by administering minor medications, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation
- Lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes
- Ensure that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles are properly stocked and equipped
- Travel in all weather conditions and to remote locations with exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and direct exposure to bodily fluids
- Work in a physically demanding environment, including frequent lifting and carrying of up to 105lbs, kneeling and trunk flexion for extended periods, and standing and sitting for extended periods
Requirements:
- Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as an Primary Care Paramedic (PCP)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Able to obtain a valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent and a five (5) year driver abstract current within six (6) months with no more than six (6) demerits prior to commencing work
- Proof of the successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via the certificate provided by the Lifemark organization
- Preferred: Current certification in ITLS and additional, related post-secondary program completion
Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
