Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Investment Director to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Global Wealth Management team, you will be responsible for providing timely investment advice and value-added pooled investment vehicles recommendations to our relationship managers across key distribution channels.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Investment Advice and Research
  • Conduct primary research and due diligence on alternative funds, offshore funds, and ETFs to provide recommendations to our relationship managers.
  • Support the management of mutual funds, offshore funds, and ETF recommended lists and guided portfolios to ensure positions continue to meet our selection criteria.
Product Development and Implementation
  • Lead the design and implementation of a Global Wealth Management framework for pooled investment vehicles.
  • Partner with internal distribution and asset management teams to align asset allocation, portfolio strategy, and product fulfillment options with a pan-wealth perspective.
Operational Due Diligence
  • Perform due diligence on new/exempt products, including hedge funds, private assets, and other Offering Memorandum products.
  • Review new product categories and due diligence on new issuers of approved product categories.
Reporting and Communication
  • Prepare internal due diligence reports and seek approval for new exempt products to the appropriate committees within Global Wealth Management.
  • Communicate changes to advisor channel, Sales Management, Compliance, and other business lines.
Requirements
  1. Education and Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of finance-related experience.
  • An understanding of Investment Funds/Alternative Assets/ETFs with five years of fund research/manager research experience.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong skills in analytics, written and verbal communication, relationship building, self-management, and attention to detail.
  • Professional integrity.
Working Conditions
  • Work takes place in an open concept office environment.
  • Customer demands are constant and unpredictable.
  • Non-standard working hours are a common occurrence.
