We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Piping Engineer to join our team in Mississauga, Canada. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing piping systems for Life Extension Projects and New Build projects.

About the Role

This permanent position offers a unique opportunity to work on various major projects for internal and external clients. You will have the chance to develop your career and experience in the nuclear field while working independently or under the instruction from a senior technical engineer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering work following Atkins' QA programs, codes, standards, and regulation requirements;
  • Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and other design disciplines or departments to execute assigned engineering work;
  • Contribute to conceptual, preliminary, and/or detailed design of CANDU or Nuclear process systems and modifications;
  • Prepare detailed designs of piping supports, pipe sizing, and piping and equipment layout with review;
  • Develop engineering computations and analyses using applicable software (e.g., PipeStress, CaesarII, AutoPipe, MATLAB, MathCAD, ANSYS Mechanical);
  • Model complex piping and support arrangements using finite element techniques;
  • Perform pipe stress evaluation of piping systems in accordance with ASME Section III, Div.1;
  • Conduct thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear, and non-linear analyses in accordance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Div.1;
  • Prepare technical documents, such as engineering drawings, calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, and bill of materials;
  • Procure equipment and materials to support engineering activities;
  • Review supplier technical documents and perform technical bid analyses;
  • Provide technical guidance and instruction to junior staff as required;
  • Lead technical packages with a small or large team of designers and stress analysts;
  • Participate in site visits to client and supplier shops, and field walk-downs during different design phases;
  • Support field construction and execution activities, such as field changes, design revisions, commissioning, and closeout.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical from an accredited university or equivalent degree recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO);
  • Minimum 10 years of related work experience in mechanical engineering within a heavy industrial environment;
  • Familiarity with mechanical and piping systems or equipment, preferably in nuclear class 2, 3, and 6 piping systems;
  • Experience in stress analysis using applicable software, such as PipeStress, CaesarII, and ANSYS Mechanical;
  • Knowledge of ASME Appendix XXIII is an asset;
  • Ability to apply technical principles in a logical and practical manner to resolve engineering issues;
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
