Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Driver Trainer and Safety Specialist to join our team at XTL. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive safety training programs for our drivers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of safety within our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Log Auditing and Compliance: Conduct daily log audits to identify and address potential compliance issues, ensuring that drivers are in compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Telematics Data Analysis: Review telematics data to identify at-risk behavior and provide coaching and training to drivers to improve their performance.
  • Circle Check and Driver Road Skill Testing: Conduct thorough evaluations of drivers' circle checks and driving skills, providing coaching and feedback to improve their performance.
  • Orientation and Mentor Program: Develop and deliver comprehensive safety and orientation training programs for new hires, including safety policies and procedures.
  • 30/60/90-Day and Annual Reviews: Conduct regular performance reviews to monitor drivers' progress and provide coaching and feedback to improve their performance.
  • Prevention, Retention, and Continuous Improvement: Participate in the development of training materials and programs to improve driver performance and retention, and collaborate with other departments to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Accidents and Health and Safety Program: Respond to accidents, conduct investigations, and provide coaching and training to drivers to prevent future incidents.
  • Health and Safety Program Oversight: Oversee and chair the Safety Committee, ensuring that all safety protocols and procedures are followed and that the committee is effective in promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial vehicle driving experience.
  • Valid Class 1 license.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and compliance in transportation.
  • Proven ability to instruct and teach in a classroom setting.
  • Ability to work with technical tools such as E-logs and compliance apps.
  • Ability to clearly demonstrate current knowledge in areas such as Hours of Service, Fatigue Prevention, Dangerous Goods, Defensive Driving, WHMIS/Health & Safety.
