Salary

The annual base salary for this position is between $124,000 to $170,000, based on hours worked per week. In addition, regular employees are eligible for an annual bonus program, onsite mobility premium, access to a time bank, cellphone program, group insurance plan, pension plan, vacation and sick leave, and premium offer through the Employee Referral Program.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our continued growth and achievement of strategic objectives in the Hydroelectric sector. The selected candidate will play a key role in all phases of engineering projects from front-end studies through to field implementation, with a focus on detailed engineering. As a senior member of the mechanical engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional technical quality, identification and development of new business opportunities, and nurturing the professional development of team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-level engineering on penstocks, turbines, mechanical governors, bearing lubrication and cooling, shaft balancing and alignment, hydro-mechanical gates, valves, generator cooling, generator brakes, and balance of plant.
  • Take a lead role in client communications and business development.
  • Be a key team member for small to major brownfield/greenfield hydroelectric projects.
  • Participate in site inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching of junior/intermediate engineers, actively sharing knowledge and supporting the enhancement of skills within the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 25+ years of relevant engineering experience in the hydropower sector, with a preference for 15+ years in consulting.
  • Understanding of design codes and standards: ASME, CSA, API, AWWA, US Army Corp of Engineers, USBR, etc.
  • Available for site work and short-term assignments (mandatory).
  • Must be a registered or qualified engineer in Canada.
  • Valid driver's license.
