Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic professional to join our team in the role of Digital Instructional Designer.

This role is responsible for incorporating dynamic multimedia elements into both classroom and online training settings, assessing service requests, consulting with clients, coordinating resources, and implementing action plans to enhance the multimedia content and training experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan, organize, and oversee the execution of assigned projects, ensuring their successful completion within the given constraints of time, budget, and scope.
  2. Collaborate with trainers, facilitators, and subject matter experts to identify training needs, goals, and objectives.
  3. Conduct research and gather relevant materials to determine training solutions.
  4. Design and develop multimedia content for virtual learning, including videos, animations, interactive presentations, and quizzes.
  5. Develop scripts and storyboards for videos and other learning modalities.
  6. Undertake postproduction activities, including video editing, visual effects, transitions, and quality control.
  7. Conduct thorough evaluations of existing training programs and new training requests, identifying opportunities for the application of multimedia and ed-tech solutions to enhance learning outcomes.
  8. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for trainers and learners using virtual learning tools and platforms.
  9. Collaborate with IT or technical teams to ensure smooth operation of e-learning systems and resolve any technical issues.
  10. Use metrics and feedback to guide continuous improvement in learning strategies and content.
  11. Execute and achieve project results within commercial confidentiality requirements and vendor/designer non-disclosure agreements.
  12. Propose innovations and improvements based on knowledge of training industry developments and computer technologies.
  13. Other duties as required.

Requirements

  1. 4-year university degree in Adult Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Digital Media Production, Computer Science, Animation, or equivalent level of education.
  2. A minimum of 6 years' relatable experience.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of eLearning methodologies, marketing, multimedia content creation, and training technologies.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with diverse stakeholders, management, and project teams.
  5. Substantial experience in marketing, eLearning, and digital content creation, underpinned by a strong understanding of adult education principles and web technologies.
  6. A proven track record in managing projects, demonstrating skills in coordinating teams, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality instructional materials.
  7. Knowledge and experience in conducting market research, analyzing data, identifying target markets, developing materials using modern technologies and adaptive platforms.
  8. Familiarity with the latest trends in technology and a capacity to adapt to an evolving environment.
