Community-Based Youth Intervention Specialist

At the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Community-Based Youth Intervention Specialist. This is a full-time term position that will start on August 1st and run until July 31st.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with community leaders, organizations, schools, and residents to identify and address ongoing high-risk situations in the community.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting regular outreach activities in affected communities to provide resources, support, and information to high-risk youth and their families.
- Organizing and participating in community events, workshops, and forums focused on violence prevention and intervention.
- Identifying youth at risk of justice involvement and providing mentorship, counseling, and support services to divert them from contact with the criminal justice system.
- Developing and implementing programs aimed at educating youth about the dangers of street-oriented youth groups that participate in criminal activities and promoting positive alternatives.
- Collaborating with schools, social services, and other agencies to create comprehensive intervention plans for at-risk individuals.
- Serving as a liaison between law enforcement and the community to foster trust, cooperation, and information sharing.
- Assisting in developing and implementing strategies to reduce violence and crime in the communities of Hall Lake, Sucker River, and La Ronge.
- Providing case management services to youth at risk, including referrals to education, employment, housing, and substance abuse programs.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, and have a minimum of three years of experience in community outreach, social services, or law enforcement, with a focus on gang prevention and intervention.
A strong understanding of gang culture, dynamics, and related issues, excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and in high-risk environments are essential requirements for this role.
We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, based on qualifications and experience. Benefits include a comprehensive health and dental plan, pension plan, and opportunities for professional development.
