About Our Client

Michael Page is a leading recruitment agency that specializes in placing top talent in the construction industry. Our client is a major construction group with multiple arms, including excavation, demolition, residential construction, and civil construction, operating across Canada.

Job Description

As a Chief Estimator - Excavation, you will be responsible for performing the full tender process from invitation to submission for a 100% self-performance excavating company. This includes conducting quantity take-offs and cost estimations, reviewing scope and completing bid forms, conducting site visits and attending bid interviews, communicating and negotiating with suppliers, preparing RFIs with clients, maintaining the tender tracker and tracking submissions, following up with clients throughout the bidding process, reviewing production with the operations team, mentoring and training junior team members, presenting bid opportunities to management, seeking new excavation opportunities, and bringing new clients and business to the company.

Requirements
  • 8+ years construction experience
  • 5+ years excavating focused estimating experience
  • Experience working for a specialist excavating subcontractor is highly preferred
  • Strong background in excavation, estimation, and project management
  • Proficiency in analyzing blueprints and technical documents
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Experience with estimating software and tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating
  • Knowledge of construction industry regulations and standards
  • Relevant certification or degree in Construction Management or related field
