Job Summary

The Cooperative Laboratory Technician will report to the Lab Supervisor and conduct testing on various research projects for the Fall 2024 Co-Op term. The successful candidate will be responsible for compiling reports to determine product compliance to company standards and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance testing on asphalt roofing shingle products and raw materials for compliance with company standards.
  • Take direction from Lab Supervisor or Corporate Quality Engineer to conduct research projects.
  • Compile laboratory reports based on interpreting research data for evaluation by the Lab Supervisor.
  • Follow and adhere to Internal Laboratory SOPs, ASTMs, and UL test methods.
  • Maintain good record-keeping practices and strict adherence to quality and safety programs.
  • Receive samples from various internal and external customers and assign sample numbers for identification.
  • Maintain accuracy and calibration of laboratory testing equipment.
  • Other projects and assignments related to research and quality assurance may be assigned.
  • Work with production plants within IKO to provide support and supplemental research data.

Requirements

  • Preference towards senior students.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment desired.
  • Fluent working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience with advanced Excel functions preferred.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize several projects at a time.
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and the Environment.
  • Effective team player with a positive, adaptable attitude.
  • Possess solid problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to work independently.
  • Must be self-motivated, results, and action-oriented.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $22/hour - $24/hour.
  • Hours of work will be primarily Monday through Friday (30-40 hours, day shift).
