Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Traffic Assessment Investigator to join our team. As a key member of our Traffic Services department, you will be responsible for coordinating and directing traffic investigations, collecting and analyzing traffic field data, and developing procedures to enhance safety for drivers and pedestrians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct traffic investigations and collect, summarize, and verify pertinent traffic data
  • Prepare sketches, take photographs, and field measurements of problem locations
  • Interview complainants and other involved parties for additional information
  • Submit completed traffic assessment assignments to a Traffic Assessment Specialist for review and approval

Requirements

  • Completion of a 2-year technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or other engineering-related course
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in traffic investigations, traffic operations, and transportation engineering or an equivalent transportation-related field
  • Knowledge of data collection and research techniques, computer operations, and applications
  • Ability to work in a team environment and make decisions based on standard policy
