We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our project execution team at Protech Solutions. This is a full-time permanent position that will be under direct employment by our client.

Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to develop industry-leading innovation and take initiative in designing and delivering practical products, services, and expertise to high-temperature industrial process industries. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Project Lead, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects from proposal stage through to successful hand-off to the client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of the design of successful furnace equipment retrofits and process improvements
  • Lend support to sales activities by analyzing Industrial Process systems to optimize energy usage, emission reductions, productivity, safety, and quality
  • Communicate requirements for improvement and associated business case based on return on investment through excellent reports
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or Controls Engineering
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario with good standing or ability to obtain same in a timely manner
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems on industrial ovens and furnaces and underlying combustion science and thermodynamics
  • Experience in managing projects
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead the team, client, and external parties (utilities, subcontractors, equipment vendors, etc.)
Technical Abilities
  • Review Process Flow Diagrams
  • Calculate Heat and Mass Balances
  • Conceptualize Layout Drawings and General Arrangements
  • Conceptualize Piping Arrangements
  • Mechanical stress design of equipment
  • Sketch P&IDs
  • Read electrical schematics
  • Read programming logic (ladder, function block, structured text)
  • Familiarity with Solid Works or other 3D CAD platforms
  • Familiarity with TSSA B149 or NFPA 86 codes
Other Requirements

You must be willing to travel occasionally to job sites and other third-party offices within the GTA and outside GTA areas. Expertise in Microsoft Office programs and their applications is also required.

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000-$150,000 per year, depending on experience.
