At Phasor Engineering Inc., we are seeking a highly motivated Junior Lines Design Engineer (EIT) or Intermediate Lines Design Engineer to join our Ontario engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be fully involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process.

The ideal candidate for this position possesses a background and strong interest in power/transmission systems, including knowledge of codes, standards, and common industry practice for medium to high voltage transmission lines. The successful candidate will be given opportunities to undertake conceptual engineering design, analysis, and calculations for proposed projects, as well as review assist with developing deliverables required for the successful energization of overhead and underground transmission projects.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting in the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems ranging from 4kV to 500kV by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, developing design drawings following applicable utility, national or international standards and codes.
  • Interacting with internal / external contacts as necessary for design details.
  • Supporting Professional Engineers with detailed technical studies and/or calculations; preparation of cost estimates; the creation of equipment specifications and installation standards; requests for quotation; evaluation of new equipment.
  • Developing material and construction specifications.
  • Providing procurement support, material take-offs, requisitions, and technical evaluations.
  • Developing overhead and underground structures and equipment structure spotting.
  • Designing and evaluating various electrical equipment components.
  • Aiding in the preparation of design packages for client reviews and construction.
  • Escalating design issues to Professional Engineers for review and direction.
  • Performing calculations related to the design of overhead and underground systems.
  • Reviewing of designs to ensure accuracy, perform quality control and quality checks prior to project release.
  • Supporting project co-ordination documentation and activities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of bids and proposals.
  • Carrying out site visits with Professional Engineers to support engineering and construction.

Requirements include:

  • Diploma or Bachelor in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience in construction and/or construction support is an asset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (CSA, IEEE etc.) preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
