Job Title: Intermediate Distribution Designer/Engineer

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Intermediate Distribution Designer/Engineer to join our team in Toronto, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply engineering calculations to develop complete and competent designs for various project challenges.
  • Prepare and check design deliverables, including plan and profile drawings, material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
  • Manage and develop project estimates, schedules, bids, and engineering support.
  • Compile design packages for construction and perform quality reviews of project deliverables.
  • Network with clients and maintain client relationships.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or Technology diploma in Civil or Electrical Engineering from a university accredited by Engineers Canada.
  • Five (5) + years of experience in the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines.
  • Experience in the design, operation, construction, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines.
  • Exposure to utility standards, CSA, and an understanding of powerline construction techniques.
  • Ability to work in design teams and self-motivated to perform assigned tasks and take the initiative to learn the position.
  • Ability to lead and direct a team of Engineers, Designers, and Drafters.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel to the USA on occasion for training or client meetings.
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Eight (8) + years of experience in the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines.
  • Prior utility design experience or distribution line work is highly preferred, especially in the Ontario market.
  • Exposure to non-linear powerline design software such as PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc, etc.
  • Managerial and leadership experience is an asset.
