Accident Benefits Litigation Clerk

Aviva Trial Lawyers is seeking a highly skilled Accident Benefits Litigation Clerk to support our Toronto/Markham/Oakville office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling accident benefit matters, working closely with our lawyers to ensure seamless case management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and draft correspondence and legal documents, including motion records, affidavits, and pre-trial/mediation memos.
  • Compile books of authorities/factums and prepare summaries of discovery notes, transcripts, and medical reports.
  • Arrange investigations/surveillance, independent medical examinations, and dicta-typing services.
  • Maintain electronic file organization, update internal databases, and ensure integrity of information in matterMANAGER applications.
  • Liaise between counsel, external parties, and claims operations to ensure efficient case management.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5+ years of legal assistant and law clerk experience in an insurance defence or personal injury litigation environment.
  • Post-secondary accreditation for legal assistant or law clerk, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with MS Word, ACL, Adobe, Kofax, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of the Rules of the License Appeal Tribunal, Financial Services Commission of Ontario, and the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Ability to work in a paperless environment and maintain attention to detail.
