Mental Health Nurse

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health and Substance Use Nurse to join our team at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized direct nursing care to clients with severe and persistent mental illness, concurrent disorders, and/or dementia.
- Develop and implement individualized strength-based treatment plans in collaboration with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Administer prescribed medicines, monitor client response, and provide ongoing information to clients and families on activities of daily living, medication use, and side effects.
- Prepare and maintain accurate client records, participate in team meetings, and engage in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Completion of a minimum 6-week or 240-hour clinical practicum/preceptorship in a mental health setting, supplemented by coursework in mental health or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
